Last Saturday was our village show and I entered a few items in the Handicrafts section. The show is really for all the wonderful blooms and produce that the villagers grow in their gardens and of course jams, chutneys and baking. I’m nowhere near entering any of those catagories, but I do know crafts. Like most other crafty people, I can create using many different mediums/styles, which came in very handy for the various groups in the Handicraft section.

In the ‘Upcycling’, I entered on of my pumpkins made from one of Ross’s shirts. In the ‘Art’ section, I entered a pencil drawing and an abstract acrylic painting. In the ‘Needlework’ section – which involves knitting & crochet – I entered a bear I had made and my hexadaisy crochet blanket and in the ‘Just For Fun’ section, I entered one of my bags.

These were the results:

Pumpkin – 3rd prize

Gorilla pencil drawing – 1st prize, Abstract acrylic painting – 3rd prize

Bear – 1st prize, Hexadaisy crochet blanket – 2nd prize

Bag – 1st prize AND a Special Award

I was thrilled, and with my accumulation of points I won the Handicrafts overall and had my picture taken, I have no idea where that picture goes, maybe on their records or website, but I’m not really bothered, I was just so excited to win and to get a special award for my bag!!!! And to think I wasn’t going to bother……I had been so ill last week with a bad chest that I was thinking of crying off – good job I didn’t!!!!!

I’m still recovering and on a ‘go slow’ but I also have a craft fair in the neighbouring village next weekend, so I need to get busy. I’ll be back soon with more news……keep well everyone!!!
